Representative David Harris (R-Arlington Heights) had the opportunity to talk to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel while the Mayor was in Springfield recently to support modifications to the pension systems in the City of Chicago.

Representative Harris listened to the Mayor’s testimony in the House Personnel & Pensions Committee, and he later spoke with the Mayor about pension system reform.
Harris reminded Mayor Emanuel that local suburban mayors in Harris’s district have been requesting modifications to pension systems affecting their municipalities, too. Harris asked Mayor Emanuel to support the local mayors’ requests for change just as they would support his.
State Representative David Harris (R-Arlington Heights) joined Mount Prospect Mayor Irvana Wilks and other elected officials and dignitaries for the groundbreaking ceremony for Myers Place, a supportive living facility that will offer affordable housing for individuals who might be disabled, suffer some mentally illness, or face homelessness but can live in an independent setting.
Representative Harris spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony and discussed the significance it will have on his district. “I am honored to take part in the groundbreaking event for Myers Place. Myers Place will provide quality, affordable housing for many needy individuals in my district and the surrounding areas,” said Harris.
The project is being developed by Daveri Development Group, LLC, a Chicago-based company with more than 30 years experience revitalizing and creating affordable housing throughout the Midwest. Kenneth Young Center, a leading provider of social services in the northwest suburban area, will provide onsite case management, counseling, and coordination with health care providers.
Myers Place is expected to open in the summer of 2013. The facility is being built on the corner at the corner of Busse and Dempster Roads in Mount Prospect. The Village Board of Mount Prospect unanimously approved the project in November 2011.
